After the Birmingham event 'Get Set for Brexit' on September 25, the port authority of Zeebrugge as host of the Belgian Ports and Industry Day, had another opportunity to address businesses to prepare for Brexit.
The Belgian Ports and Industry Day is an event organized by the British Government, Voka West-Vlaanderen and Port of Zeebrugge.
Over 300 Belgian business representatives attended the event in Zeebrugge yesterday. The British government and the Port of Zeebrugge conveyed the same message: become BREXITPROOF.
Joachim Coens, CEO Port of Zeebrugge: ”With 17 million tons of freight transhipment, mainly roro and container loads, the United Kingdom is Zeebrugge’s main trading partner. Last week, we were in the UK to show the British businesses which steps need to be taken in order to be prepared for Brexit. Yesterday, the third edition of the Belgian Ports and Industry Day brought over 300 businesses to Zeebrugge to learn how to become Brexitproof. We will maintain the flow of cargo between Zeebrugge and the UK after Brexit, but we must take measures now, together.”
The Port of Zeebrugge has many strenghts: tailor made solutions, unaccompanied freight, connections between Zeebrugge and Ireland, a Border Inspection Post and last but not least, the RX/Seaport data platform to ship cargo Brexitproof .
