On the 9th of December 2016, the newly built second jetty of the Fluxys LNG-terminal in Zeebrugge received its first cargo of LNG. The unloading of the Milhala Qatar of RasGas Company Limited (RasGas) was part of the operational tests in view of commissioning the new facility.
The second jetty at the Zeebrugge LNG terminal has been designed for receiving the smallest LNG carriers with a capacity from 2,000 m3 of LNG up to large LNG vessels with a capacity of 217,000 m3 of LNG. The new facility will also enable the terminal to respond flexibly to simultaneous or more intense services demand: using both jetties will allow two LNG carriers to be unloaded or loaded at the same time.
After loading operations for small LNG carriers at the second jetty, the reception of RasGas’ Milaha Qatar was a performance test for the unloading of larger LNG vessels.
The second jetty in operation is a milestone in the development of Fluxys Belgium and the port of Zeebrugge as a n LNG hub for Northwest Europe.
