Next to the private companies there are quite a few authorities , associations and interest groups which are concerned in the development of the port. The versatility of port activities sometimes offers different points of view and divergent interests. There is indeed a large degree of communication and correlation between the port authority and the various stakeholders.
The port of Zeebrugge has concluded several cooperation agreements with other ports. The port signed its first sisterport agreement in 1997 with the Chinese port Tianjin. These agreements aim at exchanging knowhow and contacts and at setting a joint commercial strategy. The objective is also to raise the visibility of both ports in the respective regions..
